She started by training in her brother-in-law’s bakery as well as completing a 6-month course in baking. She was inspired to go into baking by her uncle Rangaraju who used to run a small bakery. In 1995 she started her own bakery called ‘Bun World which became quite popular in Bangalore.
Her Husband G.R. Gopinath founded Air Deccan. She worked as the chief Caterer for some time in Air Deccan. In 2024 a movie was made about taking inspiration from G.R. Gopinath’s life titled Sarfira.
